Triplet exercise 2

  • This second triplet exercise focuses on triplets in conjunction with upwards string changes. Once you get the hang on it, this is actually the easiest way to play triplets since it doesn't interrupt the regular picking pattern at all.

    As with the first triplet exercise:

    1. Make sure you have a good right hand position.
    2. Follow the pick directions closely. You should learn both alternatives, but focus on one of them, and don't work on the other before you have mastered the first properly.
    3. Play slow and easy at first, then gradually let the speed build.
    4. Relax! If you start getting tense, take a break and come back to the exercise another day.
